Midwest Book Review

Revolutions is an original musical suite composed by Dan Loomis, featuring rousing lyrics celebrating the ideals of the Haitian Revolution and the South American liberation from Spain. Dan Loomis performs bass and vocals, with contributions from Taina Ligonde performing additional vocals, Owen Broder on clarinet, Sebastian Noelle and Jeff Miles on guitar, Rodrigo Reccabarren on drums, and Ches Smith on tanbou (a type of barrel drum from Haiti). Bold, powerful, and passionate, Revolutions is a memorable tribute to the people who put their lives on the line to free their nations, and highly recommended. The tracks are "...every revolution makes a new world...", "Americas Overture", "...a conversion of heat into light...", "Skies", "...the spark of liberty...", "Toussaint", "...simon's choice...", "Over the Andes", "...a ride through the night...", "The Road", "...a new mix of peoples ready to become itself...", "Centaur of the Plains", "...spring back from the roots...", "The Trunk of Liberty", "...where the light comes in...", "Ember", "...from slavery to the formation of a nation...", "Dessalines", "...the cost...", and "Hay Una Mujer".
