Jazz Life

This is a conceptual work by Dan Loomis, a bassist from St. Louis who is active in the New York and Canadian jazz scenes, with the theme of revolution in the Americas. Music and poetry are used to honor the heroes of the revolutions in Haiti, where slaves won their own freedom and seized power, and in Venezuela, which gained independence from the tyranny of Spain. A pan- American approach that uses odd time signatures and South American rhythms to dramatically depict revolution g). Owen Broder's Lament 9, a melancholy clarinet sound. The highlight is Sebastian Noel's ever-changing guitar work.
